Ceremonies

The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be held at the Float@Marina Bay, located on the waters of the Marina Resevoir at Marina Bay.

The Opening Ceremony will kick off the Games on the evening of the 14th of August, 2010. The show will be produced by Vernon Teo and the Chief Choreographer is Aaron Khek.

Athletes and spectators alike will be treated to an amazing night of entertainment with the beautiful city of Singapore as the backdrop.

The Games will conclude with the Closing Ceremony on Thursday 26 August.

Creative Vision

The ceremonies are designed to mark the occasion of the new Olympic Movement in Singapore; celebrate the young sporting talents from around the world; engage, entertain and inspire global unity and national pride; proclaim anew the enduring values of the original Olympic Games including excellence, friendship and respect; and to focus on the youth athletes, their hopes as future Olympians and citizens of the world.

Inspiration

The parallels between Singapore and a Young Olympian, their struggles, hopes and dreams. To draw on all that Singapore has to offer in terms of art, culture and expertise; to celebrate our origins and diversity, and to offer a glimpse of our hopes for the future. Whilst we have wildly different cultural experiences, we are nevertheless united by our humanity and shared aspirations.
